Whether he was working for Wallpaper* or Wink magazine or as a freelance journalist, Scott Mitchem’s custom publishing projects were plentiful in the early to mid-2000s, tracking with a boom in lifestyle publications.

Mr. Mitchem worked on several projects with such top brands as W Hotels, Pottery Barn, and RJR Reynolds, which used CML magazine as a way of targeting more mature customers in the wake of the Joe Camel cartoon campaign backlash. Mr. Mitchem wrote and produced destination fashion shoots for this title and several others during this phase of his career.
