Scott Mitchem has been passionate about hotels since childhood, and he still grins like a kid whenever he talks about designing them, developing them, or writing about them for top publications. There has been plenty to discuss, whether the lasting impacts of the financial collapse of 2008, the existential threat of Airbnb, or how the best hotel brands have outlasted both.

Mr. Mitchem had the privilege of working for Fasano Hotels — his favorite hospitality brand in the world — and with many other brands that have taught him valuable industry lessons and continued to fuel his passion for the business.
