In the wake of the 2009 financial crisis, Scott Mitchem joined the Fasano Group, where he led development efforts for the brand in North America. The group was taking an opportunistic approach to the market given the climate of the time.
Mr. Mitchem was responsible for sourcing, negotiating, and underwriting hotel management and acquisition/development opportunities, with a focus on the New York and Miami markets. He also led all hotel and residential feasibility and predevelopment work for the company in North America and assisted in Brazil as needed.
The Fasano Group currently owns or operates six luxury hotels in Brazil and a seventh property in Punta del Estate, Uruguay; it has three more projects under development. The company’s restaurant business dates back to 1902, when Vittorio Fasano emigrated from Milan and launched Brasserie Paulista in São Paulo. Three generations later, Fasano’s concepts are mainstays on prestigious local, regional, and international rankings of top restaurants.
