Starbucks, Medellín Chair by Scott Mitchem

Seattle, WA | New York, NY

Original furniture and product design were important aspects of reinventing the Starbucks furniture offering, and Scott Mitchem particularly enjoyed working with his team to develop his own original concepts — and theirs.

The Medellín Chair was designed to be an ownable, elegant lounge chair in its namesake city’s first Starbucks store.

When developing FF&E packages, Mr. Mitchem focuses on the appropriate mix of furniture archetypes for a project before beginning design and development. The steel-framed Medellín chair is an example, developed for its inherent durability with features that make it functional in a high-volume hospitality retail setting like Starbucks.
