Masaya Company, Pergola & Trellis, Outdoor Furniture Design

Managua, Nicaragua

As part of the strategy and design work to launch Nicaraguan furnituremaker Masaya Company to the US market, Scott Mitchem designed original furniture and accessories. One of the standout creations is the "Pergola Trellis," an elegant, modern structure that supports climbing vines. This innovative design and its flora provide shade and infuse outdoor spaces with vibrant colors, creating an inviting and enchanting atmosphere for lounging or dining.

The Pergola Trellis is skillfully constructed using sustainably sourced teak wood, meticulously grown and harvested by Masaya Company on their expansive tree farms just outside Managua. With a legacy spanning two decades, Masaya Company prides itself on its commitment to environmental responsibility. All their furniture is designed and produced within their factory in the capital city and shipped from the nearby ports of Corinto and San Juan del Sur, minimizing the environmental impact of shipping raw materials between different regions.

Through their unwavering commitment to sustainable practices and vertical integration, Masaya Company distinguishes itself as one of the rare furniture manufacturers worldwide that seamlessly incorporates every step of the production process, including planting the trees used in their products. This holistic approach ensures sustainability while upholding the highest standards of design and craftsmanship.
