Starbucks, Colombia Market Flagship, Parque 93 Reserve® Café, Bogotá
Bogotá, Colombia
In 2014 Scott Mitchem led a team of architects, designers, and local artists to deliver the most ambitious Starbucks café in LATAM at that time: Parque 93 — the Colombian market’s flagship Starbucks Reserve café.
The design is a luxurious take on Starbucks’ industrial aesthetic of that time, and it takes significant inspiration from Colombian coffee culture. The café unfolds over three levels, starting with the entry lobby and progressing upstairs to the mezzanine tasting area and the third-floor lounge.
The centerpiece artwork, hand-painted in coffee pigment, depicts the fantastical first shipment of Colombian coffee to Seattle’s original Starbucks — under the watchful eye of the brand’s Siren. The bill of sale from the actual shipment in 1971 is framed and displayed as a less whimsical but important part of Starbucks’ story in Colombia.
